Clear Calorie Information!

In 2010, in support of the "Let's Move!" anti-obesity campaign, America's beverage companies announced the Clear on Calories initiative—a voluntary commitment to place easy-to-use calorie labels on the front of every bottle, can, and pack they produce. By placing total calories on the front of all bottles and cans up to and including 20 ounces, consumers know exactly how many calories are in the beverage before making a purchase. For packages larger than 20 ounces, the labels provide calories per serving. The calorie labels put this information right at the fingertips of consumers so they can make a choice that's right for them.

More Choices. Smaller Portions. Less Sugar.

America's beverage companies are working to decrease sugar consumed from beverages to bring about lasting changes. We are driving behavioral change by bringing people more beverage options with less sugar or no sugar at all, as well as smaller portions, and providing them the information and encouragement they want at the point-of-sale.

Carbonated Beverages

Carbonated Beverages are drinks that have had carbon dioxide added to them. Carbon dioxide is colourless and flavourless. Carbonated Beverages have as their base either carbonated water or soda water – which are considered Carbonated Beverages in their own right.

Sports Drinks

Sports drinks are one of many beverage options designed to help consumers stay hydrated, which is necessary for overall health and wellness. These functional beverage products often contain electrolytes and were created to help athletes and other active people hydrate before, during and after vigorous exercise. Sports drinks can provide nutrients and quickly replenish electrolytes and carbohydrates lost during physical activity or exposure to high temperatures.

Juices

Americans want variety and taste in the beverage products they consume. This is certainly apparent when it comes to the 100 percent juice and juice drink product category. The producers, marketers, bottlers and distributors of 100 percent juice and juice drink beverages provide products that offer more than simple refreshment. Many of these products deliver vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Energy drinks can serve as a refreshing beverage choice. While they are not specifically designed like sports drinks to aid in rehydration, energy drinks can have a “pick-me-up” quality.

Teas & Coffees

After water, tea and coffee are the world’s most widely consumed beverages. Different types of teas and coffees are popular in different regions of the world. Black tea is consumed principally in Europe, North America and North Africa, while green tea is consumed throughout Asia. Oolong tea is popular in China and Taiwan.

The term “bottled water” actually applies to a number of different beverage products, including spring water, purified water, mineral water, sparkling bottled water, well water and artesian water. The term “water beverages” applies to a number of different beverages including flavored water, enhanced water, fortified water and fitness water.
